Product & Praxis
A series of Product & Praxis packages have been put together and are available to aid and assist in the promotion and development of Mantis Bowls.
These packages can be used independently, or integrated with one another, to help enhance the overall experience of playing and participating in Mantis Bowls.
Product
An array of equipment has been assembled to help players ‘Learn to play’… and also ‘Play to learn’ … These items have been purposely packaged together to help maximise the learning and game opportunities within the environments and facilities used by differing groups of players.
Mantis Bowls set
This set contains the equipment required to play both Mantis Bowls and Mini-Mantis Bowls. This includes the construction of 2 Mantis (or 1 Mantis Jaws) on a full rink, or for a game of ‘Hog Line Bowls’, which comprises 1 Mini-Mantis (or 1 Mini-Mantis Jaws) together with the 2 Fenders.
Mini-Mantis Bowls set
This set contains the equipment required to play a game of Mini-Mantis Bowls (using either the Mini-Mantis or the Mini-Mantis Jaws) on either a flat green bowls rink, or on a badminton court.
Mini-Mantis Boules set
This set contains the equipment required to play Mini-Mantis Boules, which is played with boccia balls using a combination of the Mini-Mantis and Mini-Mantis Jaws. Two games can be played simultaneously on either a flat green bowls rink, or a badminton court using this set.
Universal Mantis set
This set contains the equipment required to play all the different Mantis Games on offer; Mantis Bowls, Mini-Mantis Bowls and Mini-Mantis Boules. This includes the construction of 2 Mantis (or 1 Mantis Jaws) as used on a full bowls rink; the setting up of a game of Mini-Mantis Bowls played between the hog lines on a flat green bowls rink (using either the Mini-Mantis or the Mini-Mantis Jaws) or alternatively on a badminton court. A further option with this all-encompassing package is to play Mini-Mantis Boules using a combination of 2 Mini-Mantis & 2 Mini-Mantis Jaws.
Mantis Eye
This Mantis Eye target mat is stored within its’ own plastic case, and can be used across all the Mantis Games, as well as for performance measurement testing.
Ability Banding pack
This performance measurement pack includes Punchcards, which can be used when measuring a player’s technical performance ability. The testing process enables a unique ‘performance rating’ and the corresponding technical Ability Banding level to be produced for each individual player. Instructions explaining how to complete the performance measurement tests are also included.
Mantis Bowls (iPDF) guidebook
This guidebook outlines the concept of Mantis Bowls and explains how it has been created to develop and promote an interest and participation in Lawn Bowls. The guide provides details on how to set up all the equipment, together with a comprehensive explanation and illustration of the drills and games involved in this exciting and innovative learning process.

Praxis
A collection of learning programmes has been put together, which can be used in conjunction with the Product resources to help and assist in the development of players when playing Mantis Bowls.
Mantis Bowls programme
This provides a systematic learning process in which to develop a variety of Lawn Bowls delivery techniques. It is also supported with an innovative performance measurement system enabling the technical performance ability to be calculated for each player.
Mini-Mantis Bowls programme
This programme introduces the use of a lawn bowl with its bias. The Mantis Games are used to acquaint players with a variety of delivery techniques used in Lawn Bowls, together with nurturing the game sense associated with this traditional game.
Mini-Mantis Boules programme
This provides a learning programme aimed at assisting a player to take a transitional step from playing the game of Boccia over to the more traditional game of Lawn Bowls. The Mantis Games are introduced using boccia balls together with traditional boccia skills to acquaint players with the use of the Mantis Bowls equipment.
Boccia to Bowls programme
This programme provides a number of adapted sessions offering a progressive learning process aimed at enhancing the delivery skills and game sense of the participating players.
